Alhambra

Alhambra is the most visited place in Granada. It is made by The Moors.

The most attractive place in Alhambra, is Courtyard Myrtle (Patio de Comares). It has a pool from which water constantly flows. With numerous rooms, doors, it reminds of a real labyrinth of dizziness. At any point, you can see some rosy towers above your head and you can also hear the pleasant sound of water.

The extensions of the Alhambra are the walls of the old fortified city Alkasabe (in translation "Fortress"), in which by the end of the fifteenth century lived ordinary residents of the city. If you show a little good will and if you invest some effort, you can enjoy in wonderful scenery of Granada from above.

Christian influences

One of the liveliest parts of the town is Albayzin, which clearly explains the transformation of Islamic Granada to Christian Granada. Former residents, Arabs and Jews vanished in front of Spanish Catholics. However, many of them are the same old Moors and Jews, but they were just assimilated. Winding, narrow streets and houses painted in white with roofs of terracotta are symbols of this part of the town.

Granada in Spanish means "pomegranate" (which is included in the emblem of the city, together with Fernando and Isabella). This is a city of contrasts and beauty. It is almost like walking through ancient architecture- Renaissance, Baroque, Neoclassicism.

Squares

Plaza Nueva is a square that presents Christian Spain. With its enthusiasm it’s trying “to neutralize" Islamic and Jewish traces of Andalusia. Not far from there is a small square with a monument to Christopher Columbus and Queen Isabella I. The statue represents Columbus, who kneels before the queen while she gives her blessing on his new trip to India. Renaissance and Baroque monuments are of great importance to Granada. The Cathedral and the Royal Gate (Sarilia Reall) certainly deserve your attention and you should visit them, as well.

Attractions

The best-known landmarks are complex Granada Alhambra, The Genera life and the district Albaizin cathedral and La Cartuja.

The Genera life or garden paradise is built in the 14th century. It presents the styles of gardens from that period.

In addition, Granada is also a city of green parks. The most famous parks are Fuente Nueva, Federico Garcia Lorca and Carmen de los Mártires. Local University Botanical Garden is also worth visiting.

Granada offer good trails for hiking and biking since it is placed in the foot of The Sierra Nevada. However, The Sierra Nevada is a big ski and snowboard center.

Furthermore, Granada offers good nightlife since it also a University Center.
